RVBB is committed to contribute actively to establish professional benchmarks in the blood banking practices in the region. Professional management, research-based scientific approach, building capacities of different stakeholders and inculcate the spirit of volunteering are key strategies. Community sensitization and ownership of strategies are practised for sustainability and making change in the region.
Blood cannot be made synthetically like medicine; a healthy person must donate so that the needy patient receives it in time. With the help of the state-of-the-art technology based blood component separation unit, RVBB has been able to take a lead role in ensuring judicious use of scarcely available blood in the region. Depending on what the patient needs, donated units of blood are separated into red cells, plasma and platelets and are stored at a required temperature.
RVBB conducts external evaluation of products on a regular basis. In addition to this it organizes regular training sessions for its staff and to upgrade their technical knowledge and skills, it conducts Continued Medical Education (CME) programs and donor sensitization and awareness is an inseparable part of RVBB functioning.
